The Fengmiao offshore wind farm, located in Taiwan, has officially started the installation of its pin pile foundations. This milestone represents a critical phase for the 500 MW project, which is set to become one of Taiwan's largest offshore renewable energy facilities. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners is spearheading the development, while CDWE is responsible for the installation work.
For freight forwarders and project logistics teams, this development signals ongoing demand for heavy-lift and specialized transport services in the region. The installation of large components like pin piles, and subsequently other turbine elements, requires careful planning for oversized cargo movements, potentially impacting port capacity and specialized vessel availability in Taiwanese ports. Forwarders should anticipate continued activity in the offshore wind sector, requiring expertise in project cargo logistics and coordination with specialized carriers.
As the project progresses, further phases will involve the transport and installation of additional heavy components, maintaining a steady requirement for breakbulk and project cargo services.
