Dan-Bunkering has announced the successful completion of an LNG bunkering operation in China for Sallaum Lines' new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), the *Ocean Express*. The vessel, which has a capacity of 7,400 car equivalent units (CEU), was delivered earlier this month. The bunkering involved 1,400 metric tonnes of LNG, a culmination of a development process that began in April 2025.
During this period, Dan-Bunkering collaborated closely with Sallaum Lines to assess various LNG supply opportunities in China, specifically targeting the carrier's newbuild program. This strategic partnership led to securing a ship-to-ship supply solution for the delivery.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies the continued expansion of LNG-fueled vessel capacity, particularly in the automotive logistics sector. The increasing adoption of alternative fuels like LNG by carriers such as Sallaum Lines contributes to a more sustainable shipping industry. This trend may influence future routing decisions and potentially impact bunker adjustment factors (BAF) as more vessels transition to cleaner fuels, especially on routes serving China where such bunkering infrastructure is developing.
