Damen Shipyards Group has announced the addition of two new vessels, the Combi Freighter (CF) 6000 and CF 7000, to its existing CF series. These new designs are an evolution of the successful CF 5000 model, incorporating an extended midship section. This modification is intended to provide vessel operators with increased flexibility in cargo handling and stowage.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the introduction of larger Combi Freighter models means potentially more capacity for project cargo and breakbulk shipments. These vessels are designed to handle diverse cargo types, offering greater flexibility for oversized or specialized loads. This development could lead to more options for routing and scheduling such shipments, particularly on routes where multipurpose vessels are in demand.
