Chimbusco Pan Nation (CPN) has successfully conducted its inaugural B100 marine biodiesel bunkering for a tanker in Hong Kong. The operation, which took place on June 8th, involved the vessel TORM CORRIDO receiving fuel from CPN's dedicated bunker tanker, Guo Si. This bunker tanker has been fully upgraded to comply with the IMO IBC Code and Hong Kong Cap. 413E regulations.
CPN initiated its B100 marine biodiesel supply services in Hong Kong at the beginning of 2026. The company reported a substantial increase in demand, with total volumes delivered in the second quarter of 2026 surpassing first-quarter totals by more than 300%.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, the increasing adoption of B100 marine biodiesel in key bunkering hubs like Hong Kong signifies a growing trend towards sustainable shipping. This development offers more options for shippers and carriers aiming to reduce their carbon footprint and meet environmental targets. While direct rate impacts are not immediately clear, the availability of such fuels supports broader decarbonization efforts, potentially influencing carrier choices and green premium discussions in the long term. It also highlights the ongoing investment in infrastructure and vessel upgrades to support alternative marine fuels.
