Damen Shipyards Group recently finalized an agreement with Carmet Tug Company for the delivery of a Multi Cat (MuC) 2309 vessel. The contract signing took place at the Seawork exhibition in Southampton. This newbuild will join Carmet Tug Company's existing fleet, which currently comprises a number of second-hand Damen vessels.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, while this specific vessel acquisition is for a workboat and not directly related to container or bulk cargo transport, it signifies ongoing investment in maritime support services. Companies like Carmet Tug provide essential services such as towage, anchor handling, and general workboat support in ports and offshore areas. An expanded fleet for such operators can indirectly contribute to smoother port operations and project cargo movements, particularly for heavy-lift or oversized components requiring specialized marine support. Increased capacity in the workboat sector can improve the efficiency of vessel movements and project logistics in the UK region.
