Brussels Airport has officially begun work on a new logistics facility dedicated to air cargo operations. This second-line cargo building will occupy a 14,000 sq m plot within the eastern section of the airport's freight zone. The project is scheduled to be completed and operational by 2027.
This development aims to expand the airport's capacity for handling airfreight, providing modern infrastructure for logistics providers. The site became available following previous developments, allowing for this new construction.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this expansion at Brussels Airport (BRU) signifies potential improvements in cargo handling efficiency and increased warehousing options. The addition of new facilities for key players like Yusen Logistics and APA could streamline import and export processes, potentially leading to faster turnaround times and improved service levels for air cargo shipments through BRU. It may also offer more competitive options for storage and distribution within the airport's immediate vicinity.
Upon completion in 2027, the new facility is expected to integrate seamlessly into the existing cargo infrastructure, supporting the airport's strategic growth in the air cargo sector.
