Maltese cargo airline Bridges Air Cargo recently announced the operational launch of its second Embraer E190F converted freighter. This new aircraft, registered as 9H-CLW, joins the fleet after the company's first E190F began its initial commercial flight in March, subsequently entering regular service later that month.
This expansion signifies Bridges Air Cargo's commitment to growing its dedicated freighter capacity, particularly with a focus on regional operations. The E190F, a converted passenger jet, offers a viable solution for carrying cargo on routes that may not be suitable for larger wide-body freighters.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, the addition of this second E190F means increased capacity and potentially more flexible routing options for air cargo within Europe and surrounding regions. This could lead to improved schedule reliability and more frequent services on specific lanes, benefiting shippers with time-sensitive or specialized cargo. The use of smaller, more agile freighters can also open up new direct routes to secondary airports, bypassing congested major hubs.
Bridges Air Cargo is expected to continue integrating these freighters into its network, potentially exploring new destinations or increasing frequencies on existing routes as its fleet grows.
