BLG Logistics has officially launched a substantial new facility spanning 60,000 square meters at the Südhafen "Roter Sand" terminal in Bremerhaven. This expansion is specifically designed to enhance the port's capacity for handling heavy cargo and complex project logistics. The new infrastructure features four quayside halls dedicated to technical operations, including Hall 14, which is equipped with an overhead crane. This setup allows for the direct assembly of large components adjacent to the water, streamlining the process for oversized and heavy-lift shipments.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development means improved efficiency and expanded options for routing project cargo through Bremerhaven. The increased capacity and specialized facilities are expected to reduce turnaround times and simplify the logistics of large-scale industrial components, wind energy equipment, and other heavy-lift items. This could lead to more competitive pricing and better schedule reliability for project shipments utilizing this German gateway.
