Offshore employees of Bilfinger have started an eight-day strike at two of Ithaca Energy's North Sea installations. The industrial action, stemming from a disagreement over worker compensation, affects a floating storage unit (FSU) and a floating production facility (FPF) located on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).
This strike could lead to operational delays or reduced output from these critical offshore energy assets. For freight forwarders involved in the oil and gas supply chain, this disruption may impact the scheduling and delivery of specialized equipment, spare parts, or personnel transfers to and from these platforms. It could also lead to potential delays in the offloading of crude oil or gas, affecting downstream logistics and supply chain predictability. Forwarders should monitor the situation for any escalation or resolution that might influence project cargo movements or vessel scheduling in the region.
