The industrial action by Skeyes, Belgium's air traffic control provider, affecting several Belgian airports, has been called off. A spokesperson for Skeyes confirmed to the Belgian press agency Belga that a resolution was achieved through negotiations between the company's management and trade unions. This development follows a period of significant disruption, particularly impacting Brussels Airport, where numerous flights were canceled or delayed between 2 PM and 7 PM, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded in terminals.
For freight forwarders and logistics operations, the cessation of this strike is a positive development. Air cargo movements through Belgian airports, including Brussels, can now resume normal operations without the uncertainty and delays caused by the industrial action. This will help restore schedule reliability for airfreight shipments transiting through or originating from Belgium, mitigating potential supply chain bottlenecks and allowing for more predictable transit times.
