Apollo has secured Approval in Principle (Level 2) from Bureau Veritas for its PALM Quick Connection System (QCS). This certification marks a significant step towards the commercialization of the technology, which aims to simplify the process of connecting and disconnecting dynamic cables from floating offshore wind turbines.
The PALM QCS is designed to enhance efficiency and reduce operational complexities associated with floating wind farm installations and maintenance. By providing a quicker and more reliable method for cable management, it addresses a key challenge in the development of offshore wind energy infrastructure.
For freight forwarders and project cargo specialists, this development signals potential for new logistics requirements in the offshore wind sector. As floating wind projects become more viable and widespread, there will be increased demand for specialized transport of turbine components, subsea cables, and installation equipment, potentially impacting vessel chartering and port marshalling activities for oversized cargo.
