Norwegian offshore seismic specialist Shearwater Geoservices has been awarded a contract by Adura, a newly formed UK-based joint venture between energy giants Shell and Equinor. The agreement is for a 4D towed streamer seismic acquisition project in the Mariner field, located in the UK North Sea.
The survey is scheduled to begin in July 2026 and will last for approximately one month. Shearwater will deploy its specialized isometrix multi-component streamer technology to collect time-lapse seismic data.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signals ongoing activity in the offshore energy sector, particularly in the North Sea. While not directly impacting container or general cargo rates, such projects generate demand for specialized offshore support vessels, project cargo logistics, and potentially heavy-lift services for equipment mobilization to and from staging ports. This could lead to increased demand for port services in relevant North Sea hubs and specialized transport for seismic equipment.
