AD Ports has launched trial operations at the Noatum Ports – Safaga terminal in Egypt. This new multipurpose facility is preparing for its full operational launch, which is anticipated later this year. Egyptian government ministers conducted a site inspection, assessing the terminal's operational systems and processes.
This development signifies an expansion of port infrastructure in the Red Sea region, aiming to improve cargo handling capabilities. The Safaga terminal is designed to accommodate various types of cargo, including breakbulk and project cargo, which is crucial for industrial and infrastructure projects in Egypt and the surrounding areas.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, the activation of the Safaga terminal is expected to offer increased capacity and potentially new routing options for cargo moving through the Red Sea. Enhanced infrastructure can lead to improved efficiency, reduced vessel turnaround times, and better connectivity for shipments destined for or originating from Egypt. This could translate to more reliable schedules and potentially competitive rates for certain cargo types, particularly breakbulk and project cargo, as the terminal becomes fully operational.
