Multipurpose carrier AAL Shipping has successfully completed the transport of 195 individual heavy-lift units of power generation equipment. The shipment originated in Asia and was delivered to Houston, Texas, for a natural gas power development project in the United States. The operation involved AAL's 31,000 dwt A-Class heavy-lift vessel, the AAL Kobe, which carried a total of 12,000 freight tons of cargo. The vessel's cranes, capable of a 700-tonne maximum tandem lift, managed all loading and discharge procedures.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this highlights the ongoing demand for specialized heavy-lift services, particularly for large-scale energy infrastructure projects. Such movements require meticulous planning and execution, often involving out-of-gauge cargo and specialized vessel capabilities. Forwarders handling similar projects should note the importance of carrier expertise in tandem lifting and port logistics for oversized equipment, which can impact routing, scheduling, and overall project timelines.
