Strategic Marine has officially handed over two new Supa Swath crew transfer vessels (CTVs), designated MO15 and MO16, to Mainprize Offshore. This delivery marks a continuation of a multi-vessel program aimed at supporting the offshore renewables sector, initially announced in 2024. The new vessels join the previously delivered MO10 and MO11, further enhancing Mainprize Offshore's fleet capabilities.
These CTVs are specifically designed for the efficient and safe transport of personnel and light cargo to offshore wind farms. Their Supa Swath design is known for providing enhanced stability and comfort, even in challenging sea conditions, which is vital for maintaining operational continuity in the offshore environment.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, the expansion of Mainprize Offshore's fleet signifies increased support infrastructure for offshore wind projects. While not directly impacting container rates or port congestion, it indicates growing investment and activity in the renewable energy sector, which can indirectly drive demand for specialized project cargo and heavy-lift logistics services for wind turbine components and other large equipment. Forwarders involved in project logistics for offshore wind farms may see more opportunities for coordinating transport of oversized components to marshalling ports.
