Seafair has announced the release of its AI Compliance Engine, developed in partnership with Laskaridis Shipping. This innovative platform is designed to automate the auditing and benchmarking processes for Safety Management Systems (SMS), comparing them against established industry standards such as DryBMS and DBCE. The collaboration specifically targets the application of artificial intelligence to enhance the efficiency of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) operations, which are traditionally very time-consuming.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies a potential improvement in the efficiency and reliability of carrier compliance. Automated SMS audits could lead to more consistent safety standards across fleets, potentially reducing risks associated with vessel operations. While not directly impacting freight rates or capacity, enhanced compliance and safety protocols contribute to overall supply chain stability and predictability, which is beneficial for shipment planning and risk assessment.
