SAL Heavy Lift has announced the launch of its new "SAL Atlantic Service," a semi-liner offering at least two sailings per month. This service establishes a direct connection between ports in Europe, the Americas, and Africa.
The service will be operated using a fleet of five shallow-draft multipurpose vessels. Each vessel is equipped with cranes capable of lifting up to 500 tonnes, making them suitable for handling heavy lift and project cargo. The marketing and sales for this new offering will be managed through the JSI Alliance sales network.
For freight forwarders and project cargo shippers, this new service introduces a regular and reliable option for transporting oversized and heavy items across these key trade lanes. The guaranteed frequency of at least two sailings per month can help in planning complex logistics projects with greater certainty. The use of shallow-draft vessels also suggests potential access to a wider range of ports, including those with draft restrictions, which could offer more direct routing options and reduce transshipment needs for specific project cargo.
