Prestwick Airport (PIK) has reached a significant milestone, celebrating one year since the initiation of direct cargo services with China Southern Cargo. This partnership has substantially boosted air freight connectivity between Scotland and China.
Currently, the airport facilitates 15 scheduled cargo flights each week that operate to and from various destinations in mainland China. These services are in addition to the existing freight capacity already available for routes connecting to Hong Kong.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this sustained and expanded air cargo link provides a reliable and direct option for shipping goods between Scotland and China. The consistent schedule of 15 weekly flights offers increased capacity and potentially more competitive transit times, which can be crucial for time-sensitive cargo. This development helps diversify routing options for shipments originating from or destined for Scotland, reducing reliance on larger, more congested hubs further south in the UK or on the European continent.
