The Port of Rotterdam Authority has announced the transfer of its digital container platform, Routescanner, to Royal Dirkzwager. Routescanner, originally established by the Port of Rotterdam in 2017, is designed to offer logistics stakeholders comprehensive insights into multimodal container transport operations. The platform enables users to compare various aspects of container shipments, including available routes, carrier options, estimated transit times, and associated CO2 emissions.
This strategic divestment is intended to facilitate Routescanner's further development and growth as a global technology platform within the logistics sector. For freight forwarders and operations managers, this acquisition could lead to enhanced tools for route optimization, carrier selection, and sustainability reporting. Improved data and comparison capabilities on multimodal options may help in making more informed decisions regarding cost, speed, and environmental impact for their shipments.
