Medkon Lines is preparing to inaugurate its new BTN container service, establishing a direct shipping link between the Far East and the Mediterranean. The service is slated to commence next month, with an initial schedule indicating a single sailing. This route will connect major Chinese ports, specifically Shanghai and Ningbo, with various Mediterranean destinations. The vessel designated for this inaugural journey has a capacity of 1,100 TEU.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the introduction of this new service by Medkon Lines could offer an additional option for cargo movement between Asia and the Mediterranean. While the initial capacity is modest at 1,100 TEU and only a single sailing is currently planned, it represents a potential expansion of carrier choices on this trade lane. Forwarders should monitor the service's regularity and port rotation for future planning, as increased competition or capacity could influence freight rates and transit times.
