The LAUNCH2 partnership has officially launched, as announced during the World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition 2026 held in Rotterdam. This collaborative effort brings together key regional stakeholders, including the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the Municipality of Rotterdam, the Municipality of Schiedam, the Province of South Holland, InnovationQuarter, TU Delft, TNO, and Smart Delta Drechtsteden.
The primary objective of LAUNCH2 is to accelerate hydrogen innovation within the Rotterdam region. By pooling resources and expertise from these diverse organizations, the partnership seeks to foster the development and implementation of advanced hydrogen technologies.
For freight forwarders and supply chain professionals, this initiative signals a long-term commitment to green energy solutions in a major European logistics hub. While direct immediate impacts on shipping rates or capacity are unlikely, the successful development of hydrogen infrastructure could eventually influence fuel choices for vessels and inland transport, potentially leading to lower emissions and new bunkering options in the future. This strategic move positions Rotterdam as a leader in sustainable energy, which may attract businesses prioritizing green logistics.
