JSI Alliance has finished the installation of heavy-lift berths for Afcons Infrastructure at Gujarat Chemical Port Limited (GCPL) in Dahej, India. The operation involved the use of the specialized heavy-lift vessel Jumbo Javelin. This infrastructure upgrade is designed to significantly expand GCPL's capacity for handling liquid cargo.
This project highlights a growing trend in the logistics sector: the increasing demand for complex project cargo expertise and advanced offshore lifting capabilities. As industrial and energy projects become larger and more intricate, the need for specialized vessels and skilled operators to manage oversized and heavy components is on the rise.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signals continued investment in specialized port infrastructure, particularly in regions with expanding industrial bases like India. It suggests potential for new project cargo opportunities and reinforces the importance of partnering with carriers and alliances possessing robust heavy-lift fleets and technical proficiency. Forwarders should anticipate sustained demand for breakbulk and project logistics services in such growth areas.
The successful completion of this project is expected to support future industrial growth in the region by providing enhanced port capabilities for crucial liquid cargo movements.
