Inchcape Shipping Services has officially opened a new office in Brunei Darussalam. The company views Brunei as a strategically important location for its offshore, naval, and general logistics activities within Southeast Asia. The primary focus of this new establishment will be to support the burgeoning offshore market, the oil and gas tanker segment, naval operations, and a range of integrated logistics services.
Adding to its strategic positioning, Inchcape has also secured an appointment as the authorized Ship-to-Ship (STS) agency in Brunei, granted by the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD). The new office will provide coverage for key ports including Muara Port, Kuala Belait Port, Lumut (BLNG), and Seria (Scott Terminal).
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signifies improved local agency support and expanded service capabilities in Brunei. The focus on offshore and oil & gas sectors suggests specialized handling for project cargo and tanker operations, potentially streamlining port calls and reducing operational complexities. The authorization for STS operations could also enhance flexibility for cargo transfers in the region, impacting routing and efficiency for certain types of shipments.
