Copenhagen-headquartered Global Fuels Supply has officially rebranded as Blue Energy Partners. This change integrates the company's core identity with its green transition business arm, which was initially launched in August of the previous year. Established in 2022 by Bijan Shahbaz and Lamin Bara, the newly named Blue Energy Partners operates across seven offices spanning four continents.
The company's services include the operation of its own bunker barges in West Africa, the provision of ISCC-certified biofuels, and an environmental desk dedicated to sustainable practices. Additionally, Blue Energy Partners is active in trading carbon credits within the EU, UK, and Swiss Emissions Trading Systems (ETS). Co-founder and COO Bijan Shahbaz stated that this rebranding signifies a significant evolution, marking the company's arrival at what he describes as "the energy market of tomorrow."
For freight forwarders and shippers, this rebranding signals a growing emphasis on sustainable fuel options and carbon offsetting in the maritime sector. The availability of ISCC-certified biofuels and carbon credit trading services from a global supplier like Blue Energy Partners could support forwarders in meeting their clients' decarbonization goals and complying with upcoming environmental regulations, such as the EU ETS for shipping. This move reflects a broader industry trend towards greener logistics and supply chain operations, potentially influencing bunker choices and sustainability reporting requirements.
