Software service providers DAKOSY and dbh have successfully finalized a significant project to digitalize container release orders, known as Secure Release Orders, across all German North Sea ports. This initiative was implemented via the German Ports IT platform, marking a swift completion within one year from initial participant registration to full deployment.
This digitalization effort aims to standardize and secure the release of containers, moving away from paper-based or less secure electronic methods. The project involved integrating various stakeholders, including shipping lines, terminals, and freight forwarders, into a unified digital system.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development means a more efficient and secure process for obtaining container releases. It is expected to reduce administrative burdens, minimize errors associated with manual processes, and potentially accelerate cargo availability. The enhanced security features are also designed to prevent unauthorized container releases, thereby mitigating risks of theft or fraud. This standardization across multiple ports could simplify operations for forwarders handling shipments through the region.
