The 62,000 DWT multi-purpose heavy-lift vessel "Copernicus" has been successfully delivered. This vessel was jointly developed by COSCO Shipping Development and the Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company (Chipolbrok). The delivery took place at Taizhou Kouan Shipyard in Jiangsu Province.
This event signifies the completion of the Chipolbrok heavy-lift ship project, which included a sister vessel, "De An." The addition of "Copernicus" to the fleet enhances the capacity for transporting oversized and heavy project cargo.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the introduction of new heavy-lift vessels like "Copernicus" can positively impact the availability and flexibility of breakbulk shipping options. Increased capacity in this specialized segment may lead to more competitive rates and improved scheduling for project cargo and out-of-gauge shipments, particularly on routes served by COSCO Shipping Development and Chipolbrok. This expansion supports the growing demand for specialized transport solutions.
