Members from both the UK P&I Club and the TT Club have officially approved a merger, paving the way for the creation of a new, integrated transport mutual. The primary objective of this consolidation is to form the first mutual insurance provider capable of covering the entire cargo supply chain. This scope will extend across various sectors, including maritime shipping, general logistics, and port and terminal operations.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this merger could simplify insurance arrangements by offering a single point of contact for risks spanning different segments of the supply chain. It may lead to more streamlined claims processes and potentially more comprehensive coverage options for multimodal shipments, reducing the complexity of managing multiple insurance policies from different providers. The combined expertise might also result in improved risk management advice tailored to end-to-end logistics.
