SATS Cargo has initiated the use of Autonomous Cargo Vehicles (ACVs) within the Changi Airfreight Centre at Singapore Changi Airport. This new integrated transport service is designed to expedite the transfer of cargo between SATS' airfreight terminals and the warehouses of various freight forwarders and cargo agents located within the centre.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies a potential improvement in cargo turnaround times at Changi. Enhanced efficiency in ground handling could lead to quicker processing and reduced dwell times for air cargo, which is crucial for maintaining tight schedules and meeting delivery deadlines. This could also indirectly impact capacity utilization and potentially contribute to more reliable service offerings for shippers.
