Oceania Bunkering Mozambique is set to initiate ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering services at Beira Anchorage, Mozambique, starting in October. This new operation will be supported by the recently delivered 2,500-metric-ton capacity bunker barge, Great Wall Energy. Initially, the company will focus on supplying Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (LSMGO) to vessels.
This development aims to broaden the fuel supply options available to ships navigating along the Mozambican coastline. The introduction of STS bunkering at Beira Anchorage signifies an enhancement in maritime support infrastructure for the region.
For freight forwarders and vessel operators, this new bunkering service provides increased flexibility and potentially more competitive pricing for fuel procurement in the East African shipping lanes. It could reduce the need for diversions to other ports for refueling, optimizing vessel schedules and operational costs. Enhanced local bunkering capabilities can also improve schedule reliability for carriers operating in the area.
