K&R International Services has adopted Descartes' software solution to automate its EU Import Control System 2 (ICS2) security filings, specifically targeting high-volume e-commerce shipments transported via air cargo charters. This new system enables the company to process and standardize data for hundreds of thousands of regulatory submissions each month.
The implementation addresses the significant challenge posed by e-commerce charter flights, where a single aircraft can carry tens of thousands of individual parcels. Each of these parcels requires specific security data to be filed with EU customs authorities under the ICS2 mandate, creating a substantial administrative burden.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this automation means a considerable reduction in manual data entry and potential errors associated with high-volume e-commerce shipments into the EU.
