HGK Group has announced plans to establish a new 27,000 square meter trimodal logistics hub within the Port of Hamburg. This facility, which will feature direct rail access, is expected to commence operations in the second quarter of 2028. The primary objective of this development is to centralize HGK's current logistics activities at the port and significantly boost its operational capacity.
For freight forwarders and supply chain managers, this new hub signifies an improvement in intermodal connectivity at a key European gateway. The direct rail access will facilitate more efficient transfers between sea and rail transport, potentially reducing transit times and improving schedule reliability for cargo moving through Hamburg. Increased capacity at the port could also alleviate some congestion pressures, offering more flexibility in routing and potentially stabilizing logistics costs for shippers utilizing this critical trade hub.
