Mexican LNG infrastructure firm Énestas and Power LNG have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure at the Port of Galveston, Texas. Under this agreement, Énestas will contribute capital, LNG transportation and storage equipment, and operational expertise for the Harborside Terminal project. Additionally, Énestas will support Project Seawolf, Power LNG's proposed LNG liquefaction, marine bunkering, and logistics terminal situated on Pelican Island.
This partnership is designed to establish an immediate pathway for LNG distribution via truck while Project Seawolf is still under development. This interim solution will support marine bunkering operations and other LNG requirements in the region.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signals an expansion of LNG bunkering options in the Gulf of Mexico. Increased availability of LNG as a marine fuel can support carriers transitioning to lower-emission vessels, potentially influencing vessel routing and bunker strategies.
