Dubai Customs has significantly ramped up its preparations to handle the expected increase in air cargo and passenger traffic following the summer travel period. The department is deploying additional personnel to arrival halls and high-traffic zones, aligning staff schedules with flight arrivals to ensure efficient coverage. To support these efforts, 77 baggage screening machines are operating around the clock, aiming to maintain rapid processing times without compromising customs controls.
Furthermore, digital technologies are playing a crucial role in streamlining operations. The smart iDeclare service is being utilized to reduce processing durations, indicating a move towards more automated and user-friendly customs procedures.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, these enhancements by Dubai Customs are likely to result in faster clearance times for air cargo arriving in Dubai, particularly during peak seasons. Improved efficiency at customs can reduce potential delays and improve supply chain predictability, which is critical for time-sensitive shipments. This proactive approach could lead to more reliable transit times through Dubai's air hubs, benefiting forwarders managing global supply chains.
