Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) experienced substantial growth in its air cargo operations during 2025, coming close to setting a new record for cargo volumes. This increase was largely attributed to the successful integration of new freighter services.
To accommodate this expansion and future demand, RFD is embarking on a significant infrastructure development program. Key projects include the construction of a new 100,000 sq ft cargo facility and the addition of 10 acres of new ramp space. These investments are designed to enhance the airport's capacity and efficiency for handling increased airfreight.
