Air India SATS (AISATS), a 50/50 joint venture between Air India and SATS, has executed two Memoranda of Understanding with airline partners. These agreements are designed to draw additional freighter services to the cargo handler's new facility at Noida International Airport, which recently commenced operations in northern India. The MoUs were finalized during the recent Air Cargo Forum.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies potential new air cargo capacity and routing options into and out of the northern Indian market. Increased freighter services at Noida International Airport could lead to more competitive rates and improved transit times for shipments destined for or originating from this region, offering alternatives to more established hubs. It also suggests a growing focus on air cargo infrastructure development in India, which may alleviate congestion at existing airports and enhance overall supply chain resilience for airfreight.
