SolitAir has inaugurated its cargo flight operations to Vasil Levski Sofia Airport (SOF) in Bulgaria. This marks a significant expansion for the airline, as Sofia becomes its first destination within the European Union. The new service establishes a direct air cargo corridor between SolitAir's primary hub at Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) and the South-Eastern European region.
This expansion was made possible by SolitAir's successful acquisition of ACC3 certification, which is a mandatory security designation for all air cargo carriers transporting goods into the European Union from non-EU airports. The certification ensures that cargo operations meet stringent EU security standards.
For freight forwarders and logistics managers, the introduction of this direct service provides a new, streamlined option for air cargo shipments between the UAE and South-Eastern Europe. It could potentially lead to improved transit times and increased capacity for goods moving to and from Bulgaria and surrounding countries, offering an alternative to existing routes that might involve transshipment. This direct link may also support growing trade volumes, particularly for time-sensitive or high-value commodities.
