Saudia Cargo announced plans to significantly boost its operational capabilities by acquiring four new Boeing 777-200 Freighters. These aircraft are slated for delivery beginning in the fourth quarter of 2026 and continuing into 2027. This strategic fleet expansion is a key component of Saudia Cargo's ambition to double its dedicated freighter fleet.
This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's broader economic diversification and development goals, specifically the Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. The additional cargo capacity is expected to strengthen Saudia Cargo's global network, enabling it to serve more destinations and increase cargo volumes.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this fleet expansion signals a potential increase in air cargo capacity out of and into Saudi Arabia. This could lead to more competitive rates and improved service frequency on key trade lanes served by Saudia Cargo, particularly for shipments to and from the Middle East. Shippers might experience enhanced reliability and greater flexibility in their air cargo logistics planning as the new aircraft come online.
