Safran Landing Systems and Lufthansa Technik have announced a significant 10-year support agreement during the Farnborough International Airshow. This collaboration is designed to enhance Lufthansa Technik's global MRO capabilities by ensuring access to OEM spare parts, specialized engineering support, and maintenance expertise. The partnership specifically covers several Airbus aircraft types, including the A320 family, A330, A340, and A350.
This agreement is particularly relevant for air cargo operations and freight forwarders as it ensures the continued operational reliability of a wide range of Airbus aircraft. Enhanced MRO support means potentially fewer unscheduled maintenance events and quicker turnaround times for aircraft, which can contribute to more stable air cargo capacity and improved schedule reliability. For forwarders, this translates to greater predictability in airfreight movements and reduced risk of delays due to aircraft maintenance issues.
The deal also supports the expansion of A350 landing gear services, indicating a long-term commitment to supporting newer generation aircraft. This strategic partnership aims to optimize maintenance processes and ensure the availability of critical components, which is vital for airlines and, by extension, for the efficient flow of air cargo globally.
