Qatar Airways Cargo has reportedly begun its first scheduled weekly freighter operation to Tbilisi, Georgia. The service will follow a Doha–Yerevan–Tbilisi–Doha route, employing Boeing 777 freighters, according to reports from News Georgia. The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency granted Qatar Airways the necessary permit, as confirmed by the country's Ministry of Economy.
For freight forwarders and shippers, this new direct service provides a dedicated air cargo link to Georgia and Armenia. This could lead to more stable capacity and potentially more competitive rates for shipments to and from these markets, bypassing the need for transshipment through other hubs. It also offers a direct connection for goods moving between the Middle East and the Caucasus region, which can be beneficial for time-sensitive cargo.
