Frankfurt-based air cargo handler LUG has announced a new agreement to migrate its existing Hermes 5 Cargo Management System (CMS) to the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform provided by Hermes Logistics Technologies (HLT). This transition is scheduled to commence this year.
The adoption of the SaaS model is expected to enhance LUG's operational efficiency and technological capabilities within one of Europe's most significant air cargo gateways, Frankfurt Airport. The move signifies a strategic upgrade to a more flexible and scalable system, leveraging cloud-based advantages.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this upgrade at a major European hub like Frankfurt could lead to improved data exchange, potentially faster processing times for air cargo, and enhanced visibility into cargo movements handled by LUG. The modernization of systems typically contributes to greater reliability and efficiency in cargo handling, which can indirectly impact transit times and service quality for shipments moving through FRA.
