Italian intermodal logistics provider Hannibal is expanding its network with the introduction of a new open rail shuttle service. This upcoming service will connect Rail Hub Milano in Melzo, Italy, with Rotterdam Europoort in the Netherlands, commencing next week. The new route will feature six weekly round trips, significantly increasing the frequency and capacity for freight movement between these key European economic hubs.
For freight forwarders and shippers, this new service offers enhanced reliability and increased capacity for north-south European cargo flows. The direct connection between a major Italian logistics hub and the port of Rotterdam provides an alternative to road transport, potentially reducing transit times and improving supply chain predictability. The additional weekly departures mean more flexibility in scheduling shipments and better access to deep-sea connections via Rotterdam.
