Embraer and Azorra have formalized an agreement for the acquisition of 20 E-Jet passenger aircraft to be converted into freighters, alongside purchase rights for an additional 10 units. This transaction could bring the total number of aircraft to 30. The agreement comes shortly after the E190F, a converted E-Jet, began service in March.
These E-Jet freighters are specifically designed to cater to the increasing demands of the express cargo market. The E190F model offers over 100 cubic meters of cargo volume, making it suitable for operators requiring efficient mid-range air cargo solutions.
For freight forwarders and logistics operations managers, this development signals a potential increase in regional air cargo capacity, particularly for express and e-commerce shipments. The introduction of more E-Jet freighters could offer new routing options and potentially stabilize or reduce rates on specific intra-regional lanes by adding more dedicated cargo lift.
