Aeromexico Cargo has significantly enhanced its European connectivity by introducing a new direct cargo route between Paris and Monterrey, alongside the reintroduction of direct services from Barcelona to Mexico City. The Barcelona route had been suspended for five years. These new and resumed services collectively contribute over 100 tonnes of additional weekly cargo capacity originating from Europe.
The primary objective of this network expansion is to establish more direct connections, thereby minimizing the need for cargo to be trucked via other European hubs. This strategic move is expected to facilitate quicker transit times and support more environmentally friendly cargo operations by reducing ground transportation.
For freight forwarders and shippers, these new routes offer direct access to key Mexican industrial and commercial centers from major European gateways. This can lead to reduced transit times, improved schedule reliability, and potentially lower overall logistics costs by bypassing intermediate trucking legs. The increased capacity also provides more options for booking air cargo to Mexico, which could help stabilize rates and improve space availability on these specific lanes.
The Paris-Monterrey route alone is projected to add between 35 and 45 tonnes of capacity weekly, directly linking France with a significant manufacturing hub in Mexico. The resumption of Barcelona-Mexico City services further strengthens the airline's presence in the Iberian Peninsula, providing another direct link to the Mexican capital.
