Seven additional airlines, including Airlink, Royal Brunei Airlines, Gulf Air, TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola, EL AL Israel Airlines, Philippine Airlines, and Riyadh Air, have integrated with the IATA CO2 Connect platform. This expansion increases the total number of participating carriers to more than 110.
The IATA CO2 Connect system is designed to offer more precise calculations of flight emissions by incorporating actual operational airline data, such as aircraft-specific fuel consumption. This initiative aims to support the broader adoption of standardized carbon reporting methodologies within the aviation sector.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, the inclusion of more airlines in CO2 Connect means access to more accurate and standardized emissions data. This enhanced data quality can significantly improve the ability to track the environmental footprint of air cargo shipments, meet client reporting requirements, and make more informed decisions regarding carrier selection based on sustainability metrics. It aids in compliance and transparency for supply chain emissions reporting.
