MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has modified its network connecting China with Australia and New Zealand. The primary change involves restructuring the Wallaby service to exclusively handle cargo destined for Australia. This means all previous New Zealand port calls have been removed from the main Wallaby loop.
As a consequence of this adjustment, New Zealand will now be served through a distinct feeder connection. This strategic shift aims to streamline operations for the Australian leg of the service.
For freight forwarders and shippers, this change could mean altered transit times for New Zealand-bound cargo, as it will now involve an additional transshipment via a feeder service. It may also introduce new feeder costs or adjustments to existing pricing structures for shipments to and from New Zealand. Forwarders should review their current bookings and future planning to account for these operational modifications and potential impacts on their supply chains.
