Lloyd's Register (LR) has announced the appointment of Anthi Miliou to two key leadership positions: Senior Vice President for Greece and Cyprus, and Senior Vice President Global Commercial. Miliou's extensive background in the marine industry spans more than two decades, encompassing both technical and commercial responsibilities.
Her career at LR includes previous roles such as Global Maritime Commercial Director, along with experience in technical marine advisory, product management, and business development. Miliou holds engineering degrees from Princeton and UCL, and a PhD in computational fluid dynamics from Imperial College. She began her professional journey in technical consultancy, focusing on fuels and energy efficiency, before transitioning into commercial leadership within LR.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this appointment signals a continuation of LR's strategic focus on key maritime regions like Greece and Cyprus, which are significant for shipping operations and fleet management. As a classification society, LR's leadership decisions can indirectly influence industry standards and compliance, potentially impacting vessel operations and, by extension, shipping capacity and reliability. Her global commercial role may also shape LR's service offerings, which could affect how forwarders manage risk and compliance for their clients' vessels.
