CU Lines will increase its operational commitment to the Southeast Asia–India/Pakistan Hercules service by introducing its own vessels to the route, effective July. The carrier, which previously engaged solely as a slot buyer, will now contribute two ships to the collaborative HLS service. This service is jointly operated with partners X-Press Feeders and T.S. Lines.
This move signifies a strategic shift for CU Lines, moving from a purely commercial arrangement to a more integrated operational role within the consortium. By deploying its own tonnage, CU Lines aims to gain greater control over capacity and service reliability on this important trade lane.
For freight forwarders and shippers, this development could lead to increased stability and potentially more competitive offerings on the Southeast Asia to India/Pakistan route. The addition of CU Lines' vessels may enhance overall service frequency or capacity, offering more options for cargo movement. Forwarders should monitor the service schedules and capacity adjustments to leverage these changes for their clients.
This upgrade in involvement suggests CU Lines' intent to strengthen its presence in the intra-Asia and Indian subcontinent markets.
