Cathay Cargo has announced the expansion of its Air-Land Fresh Lane service, now extending its reach to Macao within the Greater Bay Area (GBA). This initiative aims to simplify and accelerate the import process for perishable goods entering the GBA through Hong Kong International Airport.
The Air-Land Fresh Lane operates under a single air waybill, which covers both the air and land segments of the journey. A key component of this expedited process is a "transhipment certificate" issued by Hong Kong authorities, designed to streamline customs procedures and reduce transit times for sensitive cargo.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this expansion means improved efficiency and potentially faster delivery times for perishable shipments destined for Macao. The single air waybill reduces administrative complexity, while the transhipment certificate should minimize delays at border crossings. This could lead to better schedule reliability and reduced spoilage for high-value, time-sensitive goods, offering a competitive advantage for forwarders handling such commodities in the region. It also provides a more integrated logistics solution for the Greater Bay Area, leveraging Hong Kong's air cargo hub capabilities.
