Netherlands-based Value Maritime has announced a collaboration with Greece's Neptune Lines to install its carbon capture-ready Filtree SOx scrubbers on two pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) vessels. The selected vessels, *Neptune Tharros* and *Neptune Ethos*, each have a capacity of 4,700 RT. This initiative represents the inaugural deployment of Value Maritime's scrubber technology on PCTC vessels.
Neptune Lines has opted for the 15MW configuration of the Filtree system. The installations are planned to take place in the Mediterranean region during the summer of 2026.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signals a continued trend towards environmental compliance and decarbonization within the shipping industry. While not directly impacting immediate rates or capacity, the adoption of such technology by carriers like Neptune Lines contributes to long-term sustainability goals and could influence future operational costs related to emissions. Forwarders should note the ongoing investment in green technologies as part of carrier strategies, which may eventually translate into differentiated services or surcharges based on vessel environmental performance.
