Reach Subsea has announced a new contract with an undisclosed client for inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) services in the Black Sea. To fulfill this commitment, the Norwegian subsea company has chartered the Normand Reach, a subsea construction vessel owned by Solstad Offshore. The charter agreement is for a firm period of two years, with an option to extend for an additional year.
This contract provides Reach Subsea with dedicated vessel capacity to execute various subsea operations, including remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services, data acquisition, and other critical underwater tasks. The Normand Reach is a modern multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV) well-suited for complex subsea projects.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals involved in the offshore and energy sectors, this signals ongoing project activity in the Black Sea region. While not directly impacting container or bulk shipping rates, it highlights demand for specialized vessel charters and project logistics services for subsea equipment and personnel. Forwarders might see opportunities in supporting the mobilization and demobilization of equipment to and from the region, requiring careful planning for oversized or specialized cargo.
